It's been a very long time since I've read a Kathleen Woodiwiss novel. I read many of them when I was in high school. I'm afraid to say, after so many years, the thrill wasn't there for me anymore. DNF at 15pagesI am not the target audience for HR set in 1100s. One of my favorite (albeit from about 20yrs ago) HR is by this author, but that could be a one off. Not sure I'll investigate any more of her books.

Im probably not being fair to this book. Its historical romance, so we know that there is going to be a couple of pages of war and politics to fix the time period. This does very little to advance the plot beyond their clothing choices, and the characters behave as if its modern times. The heroine is divinely beautiful and self-sacrificing, caring but somewhat naive, and her virginity/innocence is sacred. I enjoyed this book. It did take me a while to read it because I haven't been reading as much as I used to. The story was good but I felt like they focused more on her surroundings then the relationship between them. I also felt like the ending was a little rushed not sure why I think that. I have loved Kathleen E Woodiwiss books all of these years, and in the previous books it always felt like the two got to know each other better, this one it didn't seem that they were together enough for them
