Chronicle To Books Life & Laughing: My Story
Michael McIntyre has become Britain’s biggest comedy star. His debut stand-up DVD was the fastest selling of all time, only to be eclipsed by his second that sold over 1.4 million copies and was the 2009 Christmas number one. He hosts his own BAFTA nominated BBC1 series, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, and won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand-up in 2009 following his record breaking fifty-four date Arena tour. But how did he get there?
Michael reveals all in his remarkably honest and hilarious autobiography Life and Laughing. His showbiz roots, his appalling attempts to attract the opposite sex, his fish-out-of-water move from public to state school and his astonishing journey from selling just one ticket at the Edinburgh Festival to selling half a million tickets on his last tour. Michael’s story is riveting, poignant, romantic and above all very, very funny.

I love watching Michael McIntyre doing stand-up and the book did not disappoint - it was a fun read.Michael never ceases to amaze me on stage and in his book he is exactly the same! His funny attitude and character really shines through even in the difficult parts of his life. I would give this book to anyone I knew because McIntyre just makes you smile with every page turn!
Brilliant. Honest. Funny. I love MM! Im going to see him in Hong Hong next month :)
A really enjoyable book, I struggled to put it down! I always found Michael McIntyre to be a really talented comedian and found myself really moved by his autobiography. He chronologically writes about significant experiences in a really interesting and often humorous way, I found myself laughing and crying during this book and it's given me huge insight into life behind the glamour of a comedian. I'll never watch his shows in the same way again! Would definitely recommend.
I listened to this one while working, and Michael's energy motivated me to work my a** off. I chuckled quite a few times. This guy is so likeable you can't help but want to listen to what he has to say and smile constantly. It's funny, charming and ridiculous at times, but it's also an inspiring story about failure and success. Even people who are constantly praised for what they do fail sometimes.
I have always given autobiographies a wide birth. With no real interest in the personal lives of the rich and famous, I assumed they would be dry and boring. Well I flicked this open when shelving at the library, found a chuckle on the first page, and then discovered it was hard to put down. In some ways it read like a work of fiction and was very entertaining, often making me laugh out loud. So, it transpires that the first autobiography I've ever read was a hit. Maybe, more than likely, it was
4.5 stars for me.I listened to this book while recovering from a vitrectomy and it felt so good to laugh along with Michael and have my mind taken off my recovery process.Having Michael read his autobiography was excellent and indeed touching. It was good to hear about his early years as well as the hard work he has put in to be the great entertainer that he is today. It was particularly interesting to learn how the confident Michael we see on stage is in fact quite an anxious and insecure
