Vampire Mistress (Vampire Queen #5)
Joey W. Hill returns to the dark and seductive landscape of her Vampire Queen novels as a desperate woman named Anwyn finds herself trapped between the desires of two men, each with his own mission of the night: vampire hunter Gideon Green and vampire Daegan Rei. But when Anwyn is attacked by a rogue bloodsucker, Gideon and Daegan must become allies in order to save the woman they both love.
Why I read: Received for review from the publisher. Favorite Quote: Anwyn. Daegan caught her shoulders. The vampires command resonated through the bathroom, and possibly the entire lower level. Gideon knew generals not to mention high school teachers who would give a left nut to freeze motion and rivet attention as Daegan did with two syllables. Who the hell was this guy? Favorite Naughty Quote: Daegan set aside the lubricant, his hand still working himself. That glistening tumescent organ
This book, of all the Joey W Hill books I have read thus far is the most emotional. One moment I was happy, the next angry and then sad. It was a really good read
Ooooooooohh I can't wait another 4 months to see how this is gonna end! The story leaves off right in the middle, to be continued in the next installment. Vampire Trinity comes out this September and I'm excited to see how the 3 part alliance handles the current situation and their relationships with each other and as a whole. On the edge of my seat here (still fanning myself from some particularly steamy scenes).
Good Lawd! This was a lady boner read for sure!I loved The Knights of the Boardroom series I read many years ago. I saw VM was on sale for free so I jumped right in the deep end at book 5.Daegan and Gideon = lady boner
I'm sorry to say this because it seems many people really like this book, but I couldn't stand it. I thought all the characters were whiny and annoying. Worst of all, after Anwyn is turned into a vampire, it's as if the same scene plays over and over again! It drags after that big event. To be fair, the book started interestingly enough. I really thought I was going to like it. Sadly, I did not.
I love the Vampire Queen series and I'm OCD when it comes to reading a series in order but you could start with Vampire Mistress and you would be ok. There are a few mentions of previous characters in the other books but nothing that will have you lost. IMO this book has the most emotional tug of war going on between the characters in the series so far. You've got three strong-willed characters who are looking for something that's missing in their lives. Gideon is a loner and hates vampires so
