I'm really starting to lose interest in these books but for the age level, they're pretty good.

The thing that I really liked about this book was its allusions to Chinese culture, the "Hee naow, hee naow" was a dead give-away, as well as "The Middle Kingdom." I liked that bit, as well as the philosophical influences and tricks: Lasky's good at that.

The new owls are v cool and I like that theyre blue. Also, their introduction was a nice way of integrating non-Western ideas into a universe that has been coded as such for most of the series. Its always cool to see a variety of influences in fictional universes.3.5/5 stars

I dont think that the striga should have turned evil and joined nyra even if he made owls destroy books. tengshu was good so it was okay but what made striga want to leave? Soren and the chaw go to the river of wind to find the sixth kingdom after Bess shows them the maps and the main keys to sail the river of wind. they find out that the owls from the sixth kingdom have been watching them even though they didnt know about the sixth kingdom. Pretty solid for a Guardians book! The language thing got weird in this one, and it made it difficult to understand a lot of the context, but it was otherwise fun.

This is a great series for kids who love adventure and fantasy (or even older people) who love owls. However, I didn't like this one anywhere near as much as the other books in the series. It was just too weird and made me feel that the author was trying too hard to make it interesting.
