Awesome as always!4 Stars These books are the perfect "getting into the holiday spirit" type of read. They have a quaint, almost Hallmark-movie type feel to them that leaves me feeling uplifted. That said, I don't think I'd have the patience to read them, as they're not as couple centered as I prefer in my romances. However, I've loved listening to them as I go about my day.
3.25 stars. 🌟🌟🌟This is the third book in this series and I think that I am about ready to take a little breather from this small town community. While I am still really enjoying all of the characters, this story wasn't particularly easy or pleasant reading with more than one rape event involved. Tends to kill the romance for me even when tastefully handled like it is here.I am also needing a break from the numerous childbirth scenes. YES, I get that a woman just has to visit Virgin River to
The Virgin River series and Whispering Rock in particular, are the type of books one reads when quiet, restful time is needed. Each one focuses on a love story set in the same small mountain town. The names in each book change but the feeling is always consistent - low key, day to day happenings with people who care about each other. In this installment, Mike and Brie have known each other for years but life has taken them on separate journeys - until now. Mike is in Virgin River recovering from
3.5 StarsOkay, I enjoyed the first two a bit better than this one. This was a good story, but it got a bit cheesy in places. I also thought, it was Mike and Brie's story, but we got a whole lot of Jack and Mel. I like those two, but I've heard the details of their story. To the authors credit, I am reading these back to back, so may contribute to my issues.I seriously liked the way the author addresses social issues. Rape and date rape all in one book - and, she weaves the story so you follow
I read this years ago and loved it. It was the right book for the time I guess. This time, not so much. I'll leave the rating because it reflects what I felt back then but this time round it wasn't working for me as much. The thing is, I loved that there were a few stories going on. Robyn Carr would jump between the stories and back when I first read it that worked. This time it was driving me to distraction.
Not a stand alone. If you haven't read the previous books in the series, you'll be as bored as I was with all the previous characters intruding into the story of the supposed MCs (supposed is the word, for the MCs are not MCs at all). How could such a book claim to have MCs? Both Mike and Brie are squeezed out, if not drown, by previous and future characters. When Carr is not revisiting she is introducing. And that, perhaps, wouldn't be as boring and tedious as it was, had Robyn Carr elevated
