I'm a big fan of the Tony Hill series but this story was very drawn out with the ending feeling rushed & anticlimactic. Disappointing

Its our own fault: we glommed onto this 8th in the currently 11-book set featuring Brits (profiler) Tony Hill and (head detective) Carol Jordan without reading the just prior novel (The Retribution), which in retrospect was probably a required reading predecessor to Cross and Burn.
