I was looking forward to this one as it's generally thought to be the best of the series and I met David's twin sister, Marguerite, in one of Joey Hill's Nature of Desire books. A really good story, and while this can be read as a stand alone, I think the reader will get the best experience if they read these novels in order. I enjoyed this story more than book one, Mermaid's Kiss. I found Mina to be complex and well-developed, with lots of layers to peel back before you understand her motivations and isolation. David was a perfect, patient match for her, an alpha male willing to take the time and effort to learn about her and be a partner, rather than an overbearing

although there is already a very detailed discussion about this cover on the bn page, i thought i would post it here too because it is worth checking out. the feasibility of love between an octopus-woman and a birdman needed to be explored, and i tip my cap to joey hill for being brave enough to tackle today's tough issues.
